Post 13 – The Kindness of Strangers

When life gives you lemons, make lemonade, right? When real life gives you reason to fear, come home and hug your loved ones, be grateful and thankful for all you have.

I was a half-mile away when the bombs hit and though the terror was real and present as news of the events travelled to us, I am still wowed by the kindness of strangers I witnessed around me. The most beautiful part of Monday’s horrible event were the unsolicited acts of good, heroic people – the father of a deceased veteran who rushed to the aid of one man whose legs were half gone, the man who carried a tired and weeping young woman away from the scene of carnage, the bystanders who made calls to runners’ husbands and wives to tell them they were okay. In witnessing these moments, you realize that as one powerful quote circulating online reads:

The good outnumber you, and we always will.” -Patton Oswalt

To all of those kind strangers: keep on loving and doing beautiful things. I will bake you a batch of chocolate sugar cookies to show you my love and appreciation for all you do. Anytime.

There are always dishes to do

There are always dishes to do

This is how they're supposed to look.

This is how they’re supposed to look.
